The UK’s data commissioner is set to fine Marriott GBP99.2m for its 2018 data breach. The security failure saw 339m guest data records potentially leaked over a four year period, reports the BBC.
The breach, via the Starwood system that Marriott acquired, affected up to 30m European customers. The data commissioner’s office has recently fined British Airways GBP183m for security system failures.
